The world's last ocean swimming elephant has died at the age of 66 while
grazing in the jungle in the Andaman Islands. Rajan was famous for his
ability to glide through the waters of the Bay of Bengal with the ease
of the most experienced swimmer . He had been taught the skill to help
him move logs out to barges.
Many professional photographers and magazine
journalists made the journey to take the opportunity to interact and
photograph the amazing swimming elephant.
But for the last five years, Rajan had been officially retired and spent
his days grazing in the jungle and occasionally posing for photos with
tourists.
