Moroccan boxer, Hassan Saada, has been detained by the police for allegedly attempting to rape two chambermaids in the Olympic village at Barra de Tijuca in Brazil. The 22 year old athlete will not compete in the Olympic Games after he was stripped of his Olympic competitor status due to the allegations of attacking the two maids on Tuesday morning.

The light heavy weight boxer will be transferred to a remand prison in the Polinter district of Rio de Janeiro where he will formally questioned about the allegations. He will also be held for 15 days while the police investigate the accusations against him.

According to the police Saada invited one of the women to take a selfie with him before pushing her against the wall and trying to kiss her. He attacked the one by groping her breatss and making sexiual graphic gestures and further offered her money for sex according to the Daily Mail.

“It has been necessary to arrest Hassan Saada to investigate the allegations against him. If he was at liberty there would be a risk that he could interfere with witnesses. And there is a risk that Hassan Saada could reoffend.’” Said Judge Nunes Saly, stressing that Brazilian laws apply to both Brazilians and visitors
