The painful treatment took a toll on his body, so he decided to change his lifestyle to aid his recovery. Wu took his dog climbing, took 30 kilometer walks and even went hiking alone for four days straight with a tent on his back. He roared into every empty valley he encountered like a lion, overcame depression, and allowed the power of nature to heal his body and mind.
But life always has its funny ways and unpredictable turns. Wu’s world was turned upside-down again by a lung cancer diagnosis six years ago.
Having already stood up to cancer once in his life, Wu was determined not to let it defeat him this time. Over two decades he has undergone 19 different operations to remove tumors, and was even announced dead by doctors several times. Yet he has always kept fighting, taking part in all kinds of sports and practicing Cha Quan (a kind of Chinese martial art) every day. “I am going to punch cancer into the ground!” Wu said.
Years ago when he met his doctor, his doctor greeted him with astonishment, saying “you are still alive?!”
