Footballer's ear is partly ripped off after horror challenge in club friendly

Jeremy Menez who only just signed for French side, Bordeaux from AC Milan endured a painful debut on his first appearance. Barely fifteen minutes into the pre-season game against Lorient, Menez had part of his ear ripped off when Lorient FC midfielder Didier Ndong accidentally stepped on the right side of his head, lodging his stud into the ear of the 29 year old and causing the freak injury.

The footballer has undergone surgery to fix the affected ear:
'Jeremy was operated on under local anaesthesia on Wednesday night to sew up his ear,' Bordeaux said in a statement.'The (length of recovery time) for Jeremy will be dependent on the healing (process). We wish a speedy recovery to our player and we hope to see him back soon.'
Gabon international Ndong has since apologised, he said:
"I offer my apologies to Jeremy Menez and Bordeaux, I give him my full support for the coming days and hope to see him very quickly on the lawns of Ligue 1. It was completely involuntary but had unfortunate consequences for him."
